Ever since his early day as a labout lawyer, Sid Green has been a controversial fixture of Manitoba politics. He helped the NDP to their first electoral victory in 1969; then he served as a cabinet minister in Ed Schreyer’s ground-breaking administration. After deciding not to challenge Howard Pawley as Schreyer’s replacement for NDP leader, Green struck out on his own by forming the Progressive Party.
